Ok so this is as close as authentic Mexican food as you can get in small town Louisiana.. Or so they say lol. Seems to be very popular with the locals, lots of regulars if you know what I mean. Service was good, menu is large, very large and they have everything you can think of, and then you can add crawfish to it, just for good measure. So... I didn't go the traditional route, I had the Carnitas and then the "fried" icecream. The Carnitas were ok... Nothing spectacular but the portion was huge! The "fried" icecream was just some vanilla icecream rolled into corn flakes and plopped into a tortilla cup... I think someone forgot to "fry" it? Worth a try if you want to try something new, the salsa was great!

Thought I'd give this place a try, food is ok but it is so darn cold in the place everyone is wearing a coat. If you pay with a card be prepared to wait as they still use a dial up to run credit cards. Nuff said.

Vegetarian in a strange land ;-). So a veggie list that includes shrimp was kind of odd BUT the rellanos were great - really. Cheese enchilada was good as well. Beware the cheese sauce: very good but too much, too rich. Ask instead for a small side ($1.49) and use it as a dip, too. Service was very good. Marg was way better than Bourbon street and I got 2 for 1 on happy hour. Chips were light and crispy.

Words cannot even express how bad this place is. I wish there were an option to give a rating of minus 16, because that's just what this place would get from me. It pains me to even leave one star, but that's my only option. When we went, it must've been a slow night because there was only one other occupied table. Our waiter ignored us and laid down watching TV in the dining room with his feet on the table. My water came, and it had a SHEET OF SARAN WRAP IN IT! Hahaha Nothing tops that. How on earth does Saran wrap end up in a person's drink? At what point from the dishwasher to the table does a 4 inch sheet of plastic end up in a drink?? Well, I let it slide. The waiter acted as if this was no reason for him to leave his precious TV-viewing time. Like I inconvenienced him for asking for another water. Hmmm.... I ordered a taco salad, beef. After waiting an eternity (remember, there's only 2 other people in this entire establishment), he brings out this salad.....and.......I can't even explain it...... It looked like wet shredded iceburg lettuce that had been STOMPED on by someone's foot. It was soaking wet and absolutely crushed into the plate. Then on top were canned MUSHROOMS (oh the thought of this salad makes me want to throw up a little bit), greenish unripe red tomatoes, and these weird, rotten spongey onions. Needless to say, it was not a taco salad. What I listed above was everything on the plate. Watery stomped lettuce, unripe green tomatoes, canned mushrooms, and the weirdest textured onions known to mankind. Not even any dressing. No meat on this beef taco salad. This is a Mexican restaurant. Surely they must get orders for taco salads. It's written right there on the menu. Nothing on the menu stated, "Includes canned mushrooms, rotten onions, stomped lettuce, and in place of the taco meat, we will just add water and green tomatoes". The other thing we had ordered looked like some kind of enchilada wrapped in white plastic-looking sauce. Could've been melted white plastic for all we know. We didn't so much as touch it. It was unbelievable. After watching our waiter kick back and watch TV, and after the attitude he gave us because I wanted water with no plastic in it, we took one glance at that food and said, "NOPE! This is disgusting. We are outta here" We did not touch anything. I didn't even drink the new water he gave me (out of fear it was spit in), we got up and walked out. No, I was not paying. No, I certainly wasn't tipping. We didn't touch anything, we were very kind to our waiter (because I know it's a hard job and I have sympathy for under-appreciated waiters-he was just the meanest little psychopath ever), we endured the plastic in the water and the utter rudeness over it all. Personally, I bet if someone would go inspect the kitchen, this place would be shut down by the authorities. We got in our car, and would you believe it? That man actually CHASED us????? He ran, opened the door, and gave us an aggressive, confrontational gesture. Like he wanted to start a fight with two harmless customers who held their tongues and hid their anger throughout the whole ordeal. He is lucky we weren't like most normal people, who actually demand to talk to the manager. We just wanted to get the heck out of there. How "dare" we leave? Right? I've heard other people say that they liked the place. I'm convinced they must've gone straight to the bar and got drunk first. Hehehe. There's no way I'd ever go there again. Looking back now, we have to laugh about it. It's a funny story when you think about it. At the moment this all was happening, it was like we were in some sort of psychotic parallel universe. It was just that creepy and out of the norm. Please, do yourself a favor and steer clear of this joint. You will be very disappointed and perhaps even a tad bit astonished at what might happen there. Food poisoning is the first thing that comes to mind when I drive by this place. Fright-en-ing....

Our rental car broke down in front of this restaurant and have to say we had a wonderful time while we awaited for a tow truck. Food was outstanding and service very friendly. The Margaritas hit the spot and calmed our nerves. We're from Arizona so we understand good Mexican food.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
